Wildlife Talks by Pat Bennett

Pat has a number of illustrated talks which would be suitable for camera clubs, nature organisations and general interest groups. Each talk is approximately 1 hour long, but can be split by a break in the middle if required.

Woodland by Night

This is the original slide show, mainly about badgers, which Pat has been giving to various organisations around Cheshire for over thirty years. While it draws on his photography and knowledge gained over a very long time, he has brought it up to date with new photographic material and enhanced its presentation with modern technology.

Islands of the Dee Estuary

Hilbre Island and its two smaller neighbours become islands, opposite West Kirby in the Wirral, when the tide comes in. They are then important resting places for the multitude of birds which feed on the sand and mud flats of the Dee Estuary, and Pat has been photographing them for a long time, but particularly over the last five years. His favourite spot is on the tiny island of Little Eye, which always requires the use of a hide in order not to disturb the birds.

Elephants in Ghana
In April, 2004, Pat joined an expedition, organised by the Scientific Expeditions Society, to Ghana in West Africa. The object of the expedition, led by Professor Lister of University College London, was to study the elephants of Northern Ghana. At the end of the expedition, Pat travelled around Ghana to various sites important to wildlife, and ended up in the coastal town of Winneba, where he had taught chemistry for three years in the 1960s.
Otago Wildlife
The Otago peninsula, in the South Island of New Zealand, is home to albatrosses, penguins, fur seals, sealions and many birds. Pat spent seven weeks getting to know and photograph this spectacularly scenic and wildlife-rich area early in 2005.
