We camped by the path leading to the cemetery, a beautiful spot overlooking a sandy bay set in cliffs and a rocky point.
On our last evening here, the sun set in crimson splendour amongst a few thin clouds from an otherwise clear blue sky. Several terns were hunting a field above the beach as I prepared to photograph the sunset.
As life's energy source disappeared behind the sea in which life began, one of the most beautiful and elegant life forms on our planet hovered briefly in its light. The tern then dropped to seize its prey, continuing the conversion of death into new life that has been happening ever since sun and sea performed the original miracle.
